Frequently asked questions
Am I required to issue the labor certificate?
Yes. Article 57, paragraph 7 of the Colombian Labor Code (CST) requires the employer to issue it whenever the employee requests it, stating their length of service, the nature of the job (their position) and, if requested, their salary.
What do I put in the end date and in the contract end date?
The end date is only filled in if the employee no longer works at the company: doing so switches the certificate to the past tense ("worked") and marks it as a former employee; if they are still employed, leave it blank. The contract end date only applies when the contract is fixed-term and the employee is still active (no end date): in that case the certificate needs it before it can be generated.
Do I have to include the salary?
No. Turn it on only if the employee needs it for whatever they are doing with the certificate; if you leave it off, the certificate does not mention any amount.
Who should sign the certificate?
Usually whoever represents the company for this kind of paperwork, such as HR or management. Write their name and title, and attach a signature if you want it to appear in the PDF.
Does this tool store or send my data to any server?
No. The PDF is generated entirely in your browser with JavaScript; nothing you type ever leaves your device or gets stored anywhere. If you open it from Instagram, Facebook or TikTok's built-in browser, the download may fail: open it in Safari or Chrome instead. Characters outside the PDF's standard Western alphabet are printed as "?".
